Commercial Transactional Mid-Level Associate


Job description:

A leading global law firm is seeking highly qualified midlevel or senior associates to join its Structured Transactions practice group in Chicago. The associate could sit in NY or D.C, but preferably is barred in Illinois and with a strong academic record. A candidate barred in D.C. would put some points on the profile and of course dually barred or ability to transfer given UBC score would be something to look at.

Key Responsibilities:
-Advise on and execute structured finance and securitization transactions, including asset-backed securities (ABS), residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), and collateralized loan obligations (CLOs).
-Represent a diverse client base, including financial institutions, private equity funds, asset managers, and specialty finance companies.
-Work closely with partners and clients on sophisticated, cross-border deals involving a wide range of financial assets such as auto loans, student loans, equipment contracts, credit cards, and more.
-Participate in ongoing professional development through structured training programs and academies tailored to midlevel and senior associates.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • Admission to practice in Illinois, New York, or Washington, DC (or eligibility to waive in).
  • 37+ years of relevant law firm experience in corporate or finance transactions.
  • Strong background in structured finance and securitization preferred; experience with RMBS, ABS, CLOs, or related financing transactions highly valued but not required.
  • Demonstrated legal writing and analytical skills, teamwork, and project leadership ability.
  • Commitment to client service, collaboration, and diversity and inclusion.
