OB BSN Instructor Job DescriptionJob Summary:The OB BSN Instructor is responsible for teaching and mentoring nursing students in obstetric nursing, combining theoretical instruction with clinical practice. This role involves developing curriculum, delivering lectures, supervising clinical experiences, and assessing student performance to prepare future nurses for careers in obstetrics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Deliver classroom lectures and hands-on clinical training in obstetric nursing, covering prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and newborn care.
- Curriculum Development: Design and update course materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments, aligned with evidence-based practice and accreditation standards.
- Clinical Supervision: Guide students in clinical settings (e.g., hospitals, birthing centers), ensuring safe and competent patient care.
- Student Evaluation: Assess student progress through exams, clinical evaluations, and assignments, providing constructive feedback.
- Mentorship: Advise and support students in their academic and professional development.
- Collaboration: Work with faculty, clinical site staff (e.g., preceptors, nurse managers), and program administrators to coordinate educational experiences.
- Professional Development: Stay current with obstetric nursing practices through continuing education and professional memberships (e.g., AWHONN).
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to nursing program accreditation standards (e.g., ACEN, CCNE) and state regulations.
Qualifications:
Qualifications- Can be RN with 3 years of acute care experience or LVN with an AA degree and 6 years of acute care
- Hold a valid, active license issued by the State Board of Registered Nursing
- Master of Nursingor higher degree from an accredited college or university that includes course work in nursing or education,administration.OB, PediatricsorPsychiatry
RN and 3 years bedside acute care experience
LVN with a BA or BS and 3 years of experience
LVN with AA degree and 6 years of acute care bedside experience
- Expertise in one of the following areas of nursing , Pediatrics orOB-Gyn
