A leading multi-disciplined engineering firm is seeking a Geotechnical Staff Engineer to join its growing team in the Ashland, VA office. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals in geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, and inspections on a wide range of public and private sector projects.
Responsibilities:
- Observe test borings and test pits in the field
- Perform lab analysis and prepare geotechnical reports and calculations
- Review field staff reports and manage field operations as needed
- Conduct on-site construction materials testing
- Coordinate with project teams and clients to support timely deliverables
- Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with specifications
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- E.I.T. certification preferred; working toward P.E. is a plus
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required
- Ability to lift and move 6080 lbs. of testing equipment and samples
- Some evening, weekend, and overnight travel may be required
- Familiarity with engineering/construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with geotechnical software (e.g., GeoSystems, GINT, L-Pile, MSEW) is a plus
- Prior experience with field testing or subsurface exploration is preferred
