Senior Project Manager Traffic / TransportationLocation: Chicago, IL
- A well-established consulting firm is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to support and grow its traffic and transportation team in Chicago.

Position Overview:
- Ideal for a seasoned traffic professional with strong technical skills and proven project management experience.
- Responsible for leading and delivering mostly Phase 1 traffic studies, transportation planning, traffic operations, and event management projects.
- Significant involvement in traffic programming and operations for high-profile assignments such as sports tournaments, large private developments, concerts, resorts, and other major events.
Key Focus Areas:
- Syncro Programming: Approximately 50% of the role will focus on traffic modeling and analysis using Syncro and related tools.
- Traffic Management: 40% of responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and implementing traffic management plans for urban and suburban projects.
- Traffic Design: About 10% will involve design work for traffic signals, signage, and roadway improvements.
- Work will be strictly focused on traffic/transportation no bridge or bicycle engineering required.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Phase 1 traffic studies and transportation planning assignments in the Chicago metro area.
- Manage traffic and parking operations for major events, coordinating with stakeholders, public agencies, and private developers.
- Oversee multiple active projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Support business development by maintaining strong client relationships and ideally bringing an existing network or book of business.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership and other project managers to deliver complex, high-visibility projects.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff, delegating work and supporting professional development.
- Prepare and present reports, proposals, and public testimony as needed.
- Represent the firm with professionalism in meetings with clients, municipal agencies, and contractors.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering is required.
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is mandatory.
- 810 years of proven experience in traffic engineering, traffic impact studies, transportation planning, traffic management, and design.
- Proficiency in Syncro and traffic modeling required.
- Solid understanding of state and local traffic study requirements in Illinois.
- Effective communicator with experience presenting to public agencies and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in managing client relationships; having an existing network of contacts or clients is a plus.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel locally for meetings and field visits.
