What Youll Be Doing
- Lead geotechnical field investigations and materials testing at active construction sites
- Coordinate drilling, sampling, and inspection activities, documenting findings with precision
- Oversee and train junior technicians, promoting field safety, efficiency, and accuracy
- Interpret blueprints and specifications to assess compliance and ensure construction quality
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and clients to keep field operations running smoothly
- Maintain accurate records in alignment with VDOT and industry standards
- Conduct field testing on soils, asphalt, and concrete to support quality control requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 35 years of hands-on geotechnical or construction materials testing experience
- ACI, NICET, and VDOT field certifications
- Valid drivers license and dependable transportation
- Physically able to lift and operate testing equipment (6080 lbs.)
- Strong communication and leadership capabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- EIT certification or PE license (or working toward licensure)
- Comfort using field reporting software and mobile tech tools
- Previous experience with DOT, municipal, or large commercial projects
