Senior Project Engineer – Geotechnical


Job description:

A well-established, multi-disciplined engineering firm is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join its growing Geotechnical team in Chantilly, VA. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects throughout Northern Virginia while collaborating with professionals across geostructural engineering, environmental consulting, construction materials testing, and special inspections.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in geotechnical engineering, a P.E. license, and a proven ability to manage projects, mentor junior staff, and maintain high-quality standards on every project.
Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Special Inspection Engineer of Record for projects across Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, Loudoun, Falls Church, and Prince William counties.
  • Provide geotechnical and technical support to Construction Materials Testing project managers.
  • Conduct site visits, attend progress meetings, and prepare technical reports and field documentation.
  • Assist in proposal preparation, cost estimating, and developing specifications and plans.
  • Support geotechnical and cross-functional departments as needed.
  • Maintain high standards of service, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Uphold and promote company and site safety protocols.

Qualifications:

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: B.S. in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required; M.S. preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in geotechnical engineering or construction materials testing.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
  • Familiarity with Northern Virginia special inspection programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel locally and regionally.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied field conditions.
