Job description:

Job Title: Quoting Engineer/Cost Estimator/Process Engineer (Mid-level)

Department: Office/ Sales

Position Overview: This position will be responsible for the creation of sales estimations for make complete gears using customer supplied prints and specifications.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in the development of relationships with current and new vendors
  • Production quoting for blanks, grinding, milling, drilling, hobbing, shaper cutting, and gear grinding
  • Key contact to customers
  • Identify and establish target pricing levels for standard materials
  • Communicate quote status to customers as needed
  • Assist in pricing negotiations and pricing structures for quote generation when needed
  • Critically analyze customer quote requests (usage, batch size, ect.)
  • Establish timely, creative, and effective solutions to maintain a positive relationship with suppliers, customers
  • Determine sequence of operations that need to be quoted
  • Comply with ITAR regulations
  • Establish process routing with all required internal and external operations.
  • Use time study methods to produce estimated cycle time for internal operations.

Non-Essential Job Functions:

  • Train others as needed
  • Work with office personnel on projects as needed
  • Conserves energy and organizational resources when possible

Skills/Requirements:

  • Experience in and/or knowledge of secondary machining operations and basic manufacturing operations including heat treat, turning, milling, drilling, and other operations.
  • Gear experience and/or knowledge a plus, not required
  • Microsoft programs proficiency, particularly in Excel for database creation and management
  • Working knowledge of materials and heat treating processes.
  • Attention to detail

Qualifications:

Skills/Requirements:

- Knowledge of inspection and measurement; recognition of appropriate
technique and repeatability is essential

- Ability to assess machine tool capabilities

- Strong mechanical aptitude

- Working knowledge of practical material characteristics, including,
but not limited to, hardness and machineability

- Working knowledge of special processes, especially the thermal
treatment of steel

- Ability to efficiently communicate technical information

- Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses in company personnel

- Basic math & geometry skills

- At least 5 years of experience in precision-machined component
manufacturing with strong preference to gear manufacturing
