Job description:
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder
- Title: Business Development Manager
- Reporting To: Vice President of Sales
- Location: Remote/home office in Eastern or Central time zone, near a major airport (hub preferred for ease of travel); occasional travel to Cincinnati, OH office as needed.
- Territory: United States, with 60% travel expected (60-70% of time in customer-facing situations).
- Role Type: Primarily hunter (new customer acquisition and opportunity identification within existing accounts), with some farming (growing share in current customer base); strong emphasis on relationship building.
- Company Focus:Selling heads and components for pressure vessels and tanks made from carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys, duplex, aluminum, and exotic materials; key industries include cryogenic/industrial gases, chemical, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, petrochemical, water filtration, food & beverage, data center, aerospace, and emerging markets.
- Core Goals: Achieve sales targets via plans aligned with company profitability; update CRM with activities; collaborate with inside sales on quotes and closures; provide market/competitive feedback; manage AR follow-up as needed.
- Team Collaboration: Work with sales team to capitalize on opportunities, solve problems, and maintain high safety, quality, and service standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience Level: 4-20 years in technical sales, with a minimum of 5 years preferred in capital process equipment like tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, or reactors; metal fabrication experience a plus. Must be from the industry (tank heads or pressure vessels), with preference for ASME experience and strong technical knowledge.
- Skills & Qualifications: Proven track record developing sales plans for growth and new customer acquisition; proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (SAP ERP a plus); 4-year college degree preferred.
- Behavioral Traits: High-energy, motivated sales lover with leadership, creativity, problem-solving, effective communication, discipline, trustworthiness, and integrity; must be a strong relationship builder who thrives in a true BDM role and is open to long-term growth/stability in it.
- Other Requirements: Willingness for 60% travel; ability to submit monthly forecasts and align with strategic goals; experience managing/growing customer bases in relevant industries.
Compensation & Perks
- Base Salary: $80-100K, based on industry experience.
- Bonus Structure: Performance-based on a scorecard; eligible for quarterly (first full quarter after hire) and year-end bonuses (prorated from hire date); target 25% of base (e.g., $25K on $100K base), with 5 payouts per year; scales from 60% payout at 80% to goal up to 200% capped at 150%+ to goal.
