Litigation Associate Attorney


Job description:

  • Handle a diverse caseload under the supervision of senior attorneys
  • Conduct thorough factual investigations of actual and potential claims
  • Perform comprehensive legal research and draft well-reasoned and well-articulated legal memorandums, motions, and briefs
  • Prepare high-quality pleadings, motions, and discovery materialsdemonstrating an extreme attention to detail, a high quality of prose, and a meaningful contribution toward strategic goals
  • Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts
  • Represent clients in court proceedings and argue effectively before judges
  • Assist in trial preparation, including witness preparation and evidence organization
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop effective litigation strategies
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to Missouri Bar (additional Kansas Bar admission soon after hiring)
  • 24+ years of experience practicing law following bar admission (prior civil litigation experience is a plus)
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing
  • Strategic and analytical thinking with attention to detail and the "big picture"
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Willingness to travelalbeit infrequently
