Job Title: Staff Accountant

Job SummaryThe Staff Accountant works under the direction of the Controller. He / she understands the principles of financial accounting and is responsible for analyzing expenditures, managing accounting processes, creating reports, and advising the management team on improving efficiency and reducing financial waste. The Staff Accountant oversees and analyzes the company's revenue and cost expenditures; likewise prepares and maintains financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. This is a contributing position which provides excellent hands-on experience with Oracle.
Responsibilities
Prepare daily general ledger activities to ensure the expediency and accuracy of the company's financial reporting.
Reconcile bank accounts, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.
Month-end close support including preparation of monthly journal entries, expense accruals, account analysis, and account reconciliations.
Reconcile and analyze multiple general ledger accounts while providing appropriate supporting data and documentation.
Manage indirect tax compliance for US, Canada, and several European jurisdictions including analysis, preparation, and filing of returns.
Perform general cost accounting and compare budgets with actual expenses. Forecast, analyze and reconcile costs of processes, labor, and inventory.
Suggest cost-reduction and/or profit improvement solutions.
Ensure that the organization is compliant with financial regulations and cost efficient.
Qualifications:
Key QualificationsBachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline; CPA preferred.
7+ years of related work experience required; 3+ years in manufacturing/distribution business.
Auditing practices and public accounting experience a plus.
Demonstrated problem solving skills, industrious mindset, with ability to drive results, collaborate, manage complexity, and possess effective interpersonal skills.
Oracle or other Enterprise systems experience required.
