Job description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide chronic hemodialysis care and develop comprehensive nursing care plans, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians and other healthcare team members to interpret and adjust patient care plans.
- Conduct patient referrals to dieticians, social workers, or vascular access centers as necessary.
- Evaluate patients lab results and address any concerns or questions regarding dialysis treatments.
- Ensure dialysis machines and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition.
- Adhere to the facility's policies and procedures, complying with state and federal regulations.
- Deliver age-specific care, including performing all aspects of the hemodialysis procedure as per state licensure requirements.
- Perform technical skills related to patient treatment and emergency procedures as part of the competency assessment program.
- Document and report all pertinent patient information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in patient and family education, promoting a safe environment for all.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; a bachelor's degree in nursing or a health-related field is preferred.
- Minimum of one year nursing experience; hemodialysis and ICU/CCU experience are desirable.
- Current state licensure as a registered nurse.
- Successful completion of training in the theory and practice of hemodialysis.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation, with insurance, for applicable business travel.
- Proficiency with computers is advantageous.
- Current CPR certification according to the American Heart Association standards.
