We are seeking qualified P&C Field Services Technicians for placement with WSP's Power Testing and Energization (PTE) team. In the United States, WSP is a top-tier provider of power systems engineering and testing services, supporting utilities, industrial clients, and grid infrastructure projects from design through commissioning. This role supports their electrical testing and commissioning work across utility substations, industrial facilities, and bulk power systems nationwide.
Project Scope
Technicians will be deployed on WSP-led projects involving high-voltage substation testing and commissioning, working under WSP's Project Leads and Field Supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Testing and commissioning Protection & Control systems on high-voltage substations (15 kV 500 kV)
- Hands-on protective relay testing using Omicron CMC 256/356, Doble F6150, and similar test sets across SEL, GE, Basler, and Beckwith relay families
- Control scheme testing, CT/PT circuit verification, settings uploads, and static/dynamic relay testing
- Leading tailgate safety meetings, daily JHAs, and supporting regulatory compliance walkthroughs
- Coordinating on site prep, testing logistics, and equipment deployment
- Documenting field activities using digital tools, field forms, and mobile applications
- Tracking calibration and maintenance logs for field equipment and vehicles

- Reporting: Directly to WSP Project Lead or Field Supervisor on site
- Pay: $50$85/hour plus OT
- All travel expenses reimbursed
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in medium and high voltage electrical testing circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation P&C systems
- Proven expertise with transmission, generation, or distribution protective relays (SEL, GE, Basler, Beckwith)
- Familiarity with NETA, IEEE, and NFPA testing standards
- Proficiency with testing software: ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, AcSELerator Quickset
- Strong field documentation skills logs, sketches, and digital reports
- Safety-first mindset with a track record of regulatory compliance
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to travel up to 80% and work in physically demanding outdoor environments
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance
