Job description:
We are seeking an experienced, visionary, and dedicated Nursing Program Director to lead our nursing education program. The Program Director will be responsible for overall administrative management, curriculum oversight, regulatory compliance, and academic excellence within the department. The ideal candidate will combine clinical expertise with a passion for teaching, leadership, and student achievement.
Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic & Curriculum LeadershipOversee the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the nursing curriculum to ensure alignment with current healthcare industry standards.
Ensure program compliance with national and state accreditation bodies, board of nursing requirements, and institutional standards.
Teach courses and facilitate clinical/lab instruction as needed.
Administrative & Faculty ManagementRecruit, hire, mentor, and evaluate nursing faculty and administrative staff.
Manage the department budget, resource allocation, and clinical facility partnerships.
Lead faculty meetings, curriculum committees, and advisory board sessions.
Student Success & Clinical EngagementMonitor student enrollment, retention, academic progression, and licensure/certification pass rates.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clinical sites, healthcare facilities, and community partners for clinical placements.
Provide guidance and support to students navigating their academic programs.
Qualifications:
1. Master's Degree or higher in Nursing
- MSN or higher
- Must have completed an approved nursing education program.
2. Active Michigan license
- Current and valid RN license in Michigan
3. 5+ years of RN experience
- At least 5 years practicing as a registered nurse
- Direct patient-care experience.
4. 2+ years of classroom/didactic teaching
- At least 2 years of prior didactic teaching experience
- This is important: clinical teaching alone does NOT satisfy the 2-year teaching experience
5. Leadership/Administrative capability
- The role involves faculty/staff management, including interviewing, hiring, development, performance reviews and corrective action.
- The director also helps oversee clinical education and faculty compliance
6. Nursing education experience
- Knowledge of nursing skills, laboratory equipment, methods and educational practices.
